About Us
Our Vision is of a culture throughout New Mexico which supports wealth building and a more just economic system, with economic opportunities available to people from diverse areas and populations and in communities throughout the state.
Our Mission is to empower communities to create local wealth through the development of cooperatives and through the creation of a generative cooperative ecosystem. We do this by:
Serving as a resource for individuals, groups, companies, and other organizations interested in forming, converting to, or growing cooperatives.
Following a proven process to help cooperatives form, grow, and succeed.
Providing training, education, and mentorship and connect current or potential cooperatives to other resource providers, including financing.
CCNM is a fiscally-sponsored project of the New Mexico Community Capital, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to be the trusted and accessible community hub for social and economic entrepreneurship which facilitates self-sufficiency while honoring the people’s voice and culture.
Brainstorming and planning for CCNM began in 2017, with broad-based listening sessions in the community and with key stakeholders. CCNM was officially launched in 2018 as a cooperative development center, assisting groups and individuals in developing cooperative organizations that serve their members' needs. The generous donation from the WK Kellogg Foundation McCune Foundation, The State of New Mexico, The City of Albuquerque, and others enabled CCNM to begin this project.
Since then, CCNM has grown and increased its efforts to develop cooperatives while also expanding the network of partners showcasing the importance of these community-owned enterprises and those providing related, relevant services.
As a result of the economic, health, and community-wide challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide services to a wider variety of organizations, CCNM is in the process of re-configuring many of its services to be online and expanding services to small businesses considering different business structures.
